Networking makes the right connection

Networking makes the right connection Irish Times on Friday, February 6, 2009

Mike Roche one of the partners in Clique with IBM Ireland was interviewed for an article on "Networking makes the right connection" by the Irish Times on Friday, February 6, 2009. Mike is the chief architect at the Dublin Software Lab and described their Connections social computing system as “the fastest selling software product, ever, at IBM”. The article goes on to describe that "Dublin has become one of the key development locations for IBM’s social networking software". It's for this reason and others that IBM’s Dublin Software Lab is founding research partner in the Clique SFI Strategic Research Cluster.

IBM’s involvement with Clique concentrates on the development of "social software for business". Already around 100 staff, representing half of IBM’s research and development team for this product range are based in Dublin. The clustering of university researchers and industry development teams is a crucial component in attracting foreign direct investment into high cost economies such as Ireland and IBM Dublin’s involvement in Clique will help encourage IBM to locate more research and development in the Dublin lab.
